Land Clearing, Forestry Mulching and Pond Work Questions
FAQ
Questions About Land Clearing Work Around Parker
These are common questions about land clearing, forestry mulching, ponds
and retaining walls around Parker. They cover the work and the written
quote. If yours is not here, call or text and we will answer it.
Land clearing takes brush and trees off ground you want to use. Some jobs get mulched in place with a forestry mulching head on the skid loader. Others need the trees pulled with the excavator, roots and all, and piled on site.
How much does land clearing cost?
The price depends on how thick the growth is and how big the trees are. Acreage, slopes, wet ground and access for the machines change it too. So does the plan for the material, mulched in place or pulled and piled. We look at the job and put the quote in writing.
Should I choose forestry mulching or clearing with an excavator?
It depends on what comes next for the land. Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees in place, and the mulch stays on the ground. That suits pasture and acreage you want opened up. A house site or a pond site needs the roots out, and that is excavator work.
What happens to the stumps and the brush?
On lot clearing jobs, the excavator pulls stumps out, roots and all. The trees and brush get piled on site, or the growth gets mulched in place instead. Stump grinding is a separate trade that we do not offer.
Can you clear an overgrown fence row or tree line?
Yes. The excavator and the skid loader take the trees and brush out of fence rows and tree lines. That opens the line so a new fence can go up or a field edge can come back. Tree trimming and single yard trees near a house belong to a tree service.
Do you build new ponds and clean out old ones?
We build new farm and home ponds with the excavator and the skid loader, and we clean out old ones. Under Kansas law, a dam 25 feet or taller needs a state permit. So does a dam 6 feet or taller that stores 50 acre-feet or more at its emergency spillway. The Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Water Resources issues those permits.
Do you build retaining walls?
Yes. We build retaining walls where a bank or a grade change needs holding. The excavator and the skid loader dig out and prepare the base before the wall goes in. A wall that needs an engineer's design gets drawn by an engineer first.
Do buried lines get marked before you dig?
Kansas law requires notice through Kansas 811 at least two full working days before digging starts. That duty falls on the contractor doing the digging, and pulling stumps or digging a pond counts. Utilities are only required to mark their own lines. Tell us where any private line runs to a barn, a shop, a well or a pond pump.
What areas do you serve?
Parker sits at the center of our service area, which reaches about 60 miles. That takes in Paola, Osawatomie, Louisburg, Spring Hill, Gardner and Olathe to the north. It also covers Ottawa, Garnett, Iola and Fort Scott, plus Mound City, La Cygne, Pleasanton and Wellsville. The full list is on our service areas page.
